I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! I usually read Devotionals through the YouVersion Bible app, so I never actually purchase Devotionals. This book was worth every dime I spent, because it is full of power, transparency, and solutions to problems that so many of us believers face daily, but are sometimes too afraid or ashamed to voice. Dana's transparency and honesty let's the readers know that they are not alone, and that other believers go through some of the same everyday struggles as well. It voices the problems we face, and then gives us practical solutions to dealing with those problems, questions and curiosities that ultimately result from the mystery of God's majesty. This book was right on time for me, and a vital tool that has helped pull me out of a heavy state of depression, and out of a heavy place of darkness that has clouded me this year! I'm extremely grateful that Dana walked in obedience, and allowed God to use him as the vessel by which God would release this book through! I'm already ready for A Higher Calling Part 2, 3, and 50! I need more of this! It's a great read that will truly change your life and shift your perspective from frustration towards God in hard, desolate, confusing times, to seeing God's hand at work, understanding the wisdom and strategies of God, and truly knowing the heart of God even in the toughest, loneliest, most hard to understand moments! A Higher Calling will show you that there's a bigger picture that is higher than you, and that all things are truly working for your good!
Pros: Book design is very appealing. High quality. Love that it’s a hard back. Love the way the author uses his own life victories and defeats to push the reader to see all of life through the lens of Scripture. Reminding you that living according to Gods principles laid out in Scripture helps you overcome and live a victories life. It reminds me of Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling It is applicable for all ages and all genders. I also love that there are discussion questions at the end of the book for each chapter. This makes it a devotional that could be used for small group Bible Study.Love that it’s written by a male, don’t see many devotional written by menLastly, I love that the Devos are short, excellent Biblical references that pushes reader to see God more clearlyCons: there isn’t any journaling room for those who like to journal while reading.
The book is so thought out and it isn’t pushed on you. He shares his struggles and the devotions are well brought into how he used them and how we can just as well used them. This book really opened me into trying new things and truly getting closer to God. This book is one to read. If it wasn’t for college I’d be done with this book the same day I received it!!
I bought 3 of these devotional books for my young adult children for Christmas. I went through the book prior to gifting and all I can say is Wow! I wish there was a book like this when I was a young adult. It touches on pretty much every topic/issue young people deal with. Great Book!
Got this book last week and it’s great! Love that Dana talks about personal experiences and which scriptures helped him get through certain times of his life. This book has also helped me to start writing in a journal again. I’m able to get my thoughts on paper and talk to God.
Best decision I made was to buy this devotional!
