Like many before me I fell in love with Marian Keyes witty brand of chick lit. She is wickedly funny without the froth, in fact for those of us paying attention it was quite clear that there was a darkness underpinned to her writing that seemed more familiar to expirence than soapy imagination. I remember when it was announced that she would be taking a hiatus from writing to deal with the black dog of clinical depression. I was startled, but as I was an avid reader not completely surprised so I just bowed my head and hoped fervently for the best for Ms. Keyes as I knew first hand what she was up against.There are many ways to come out of a depression the funny thing is that they never seem to be the same road and the quest varies from one individual to another. Marian found her route in baking and has shared her recovery with us in a very unique, heart warming and witty cookbook.I suppose what really won me over here is that this is not your typical self-help book that encourages the reader to self-reflect to the point of a wallowing, narcisstic pity-party but the sheer nuts and bolts of a woman who had a problem and found a solution and dealt with it. This is true trouble-shooting minus the victimhood and its a recipe book to boot.Marian Keyes despite the road bumps just keeps finding ways to be awesome.

Really good book, just a lot of typos, as others have noted. If I had the money I would probably buy the newer edition, but for the most part this is fantastic for my needs.

I love this book! I love to learn pharmacology related to anesthetic practice however have never been able to find a book that gets detailed on the physiological aspect of drugs. This book has it!

Ordered this book as I needed it for admission interviews to CRNA school, at least I though I needed it. I really needed the complete book, only difference in the picture of the books is the "handbook of" part in the top left corner. I thought it was cheaper since it was paperback. Anywho, I got accepted to the school following interviews, so I guess it did its job. Now I just have to buy the complete book as it is the one required for class. lol. Blond moment.

Amazing reference!!! This is a MUST have for anyone using cross-sectional imaging, and definitely for all residents and diplomates using CT/MR. The book is very well organized, to the point, and has an abundance of pertinent information on most major and minor disease processes. This includes a wealth of CT/MR images, common imaging findings, anatomy (including some line drawings), common differentials, some pathophysiology, and even some supplemental images (3D reconstructions, radiographs, ultrasound, gross pathology, endoscopy including virtual colonoscopy). References at the end of the chapters make great supplemental readings for those of you taking boards.As far as quality goes - the images came out really sharp with excellent contrast and the paper feels very nice and glossy. The binding in my copy isn't perfect, but that is A ok with me. All I really care about is the quality of the images and information and I am loving this awesome book!

The content of the book is amazing ! It's a must have.However the quality of the books themselves I have received was poor. I have received the book the first time with the cover not glued to the book, shipped it back. I have now received a second one, which has almost issue, the spine cover is only partially glued to the textblock.It is unfortunate to see that the quality of the print was not optimal, as it is otherwise an amazing book !

This atlas represents a comprehensive compilation of cross-sectional (computed tomography, CT, and magnetic resonance, MR) images of normal anatomy and a wide range of pathologic conditions in dogs and cats. The book is logically structured into 6 sections (head and neck, brain, spine, thorax, abdomen and musculoskeletal system). A brief introduction and literature review at the beginning of each chapter provides an excellent and concise overview over relevant normal findings, anatomic variations, and pathologic lesions to be covered in the following imaging part. Multiple images are provided for each topic, often including both CT and MR images in various window settings and sequences, multiplanar reconstructions and 3-D volume rendered images of the same animal. Additionally, in many instances endoscopic, intra-operative or gross pathology images are provided along with CT and MR images of a given case, allowing clinical correlation. This is certainly the most comprehensive collection of normal and abnormal CT and MR images in small animal veterinary patients available to date. It does not only include examples of common diseases (e.g., nasal carcinoma or pituitary carcinoma) but also uncommon conditions cross sectional images of which are not easily found in the existing literature (e.g., effects of radiation on the brain or renal secondary parathyroidism). The book is beautifully produced, easy to follow, and the image quality is simply outstanding. Another review mentioned problems with the spine/binding - My copy is flawless, so I did not have the same experience. This atlas is a most valuable resource not only for veterinary radiologists and radiology residents but also for other specialists utilizing cross-sectional imaging (neurologist, internists, surgeons, (radiation) oncologists etc.), for private practitioners with access to CT or MRI, and for veterinary students seeking correlation between diagnostic imaging and pathologic findings. I very much enjoyed reading this book, and I would give it my highest recommendations. It is an absolute must-have for anybody interested in cross-sectional imaging in dogs and cats.

This is an awesome reference for veterinary cross-sectional imaging in small animals! I received the book as a gift after requesting it. This book is well organized into six an anatomical sections and several subsections within each of the main sections. Each subsection includes brief review (narrative and images) of the appearance of normal and abnormal structures and disorders, respectively, within that subsection. CT images (with and without contrast), MR images (multiple sequences), and some gross and 3-D reconstructed images are included. This book is very clinically applicable and is a must have for anyone studying or routinely using cross-sectional imaging in veterinary medicine!As an aside, the binding on my book is perfect.

Joe Starkey is an afternoon radio host on 93.7 The Fan (CBS Radio) in Pittsburgh and a columnist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. This was a birthday gift for my wife who is a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Shortly after she began reading this book, she started sharing some of the anecdotes with me. After an hour immersed in the book, she marked her spot and offered to let me read it. What a great book! Ever wonder why they are called the Penguins? The humorous explanation is given here. The day that Mario Lemieux brought the team out of bankruptcy is recounted, as well as the day he announced he was returning as a player ("This changes everything" being the general sentiment after the announcement). Coach Herb Brooks taking on a Colorado television commentator for a verbal cheap shot on one of his players, the (at the time) third longest game in league history and, just a few years later, another marathon overtime game...these stories and so many others are told in this lively book. Highly recommended for Penguins fans or, for that matter, fans of the game.

So glad to finally have this book back in stock on Amazon! This is quite the collection... more than 200 pages of Pens history in one collection. Perfect for every fan, from the know-it-all to a team novice, the book features stories that give you great insight into the Penguins bench... past and present. The author is a local Pittsburgh sports writer who has logged countless hours following the team and reporting from the locker room. This kind of rare access resulted in a book only someone who has spent time on the "inside" could deliver.

My husband bought this book for himself. He is all about the penguins and usually does not read many books but this sparked his interest. He wo ukd air every night reading this. I asked him to review out of 5 stars and he sais 5 stars!

Every serious Pens fan should have this book. Itâ€™s loaded with short facts and one paragraph stories... great for guys like me with a short attention span. Starkey did a great job on this.

Birthday gift for a pens fan. He started reading it right away! The book consists of short stories so it's very easy to read. I'm happy with my purchase.
